I had a prior heart attack in 2010 and was treated thru angioplasty… I did the GM Diet religiously in 2011 and it was catastrophic! I lost 2.5 kg though but it terribly affected my heart’s functions… It can be attributed to hypokalemia or low blood potassium… The reason why banana and milk is the main diet on Day 4 is to provide supposedly adequate dietary potassium… Days 1-3 Diet Rgimen lacked the potassium needed… so Day 4 is suppose to replete it but based on my observation it did not… I began to have chest pain on Day 6 and had arrhythmia (irregular heart beat) and thru lab exams, I was found out to have low blood potassium… This regimen might work on perfectly healthy individuals but with people who have heart ailment I strongly suggest you don’t do this…
I have a heart ailment too. Is there any other way for me to still do this Diet Plan? Maybe I will not cut off bananas on the first 3 days of this plan? From your post, it sounded like the cause of chest pain and arrhythmia was the lack of dietary potassium from days 1 – 3. Right? Bananas are anyway high in Kcal ( from a fruit perspective) I skipped it and skipped the tomato day ( had grilled trout and chicken instead) and lost 8.2 Kg
Mariam Majid i've tried this diet and this is great..we wont starve..just take small amount of food 7-9 times in a day..like between breakfast and lunch.. and meat is not essential to diet plan..there are a lot of healthy people who follow pure vegetarian diet

Mariam Majid meat is not essential…protein however, is. So to balance things up, after the detox week, coz this is what this plan is for me, if someone wants to go vegan, there are many other protein sources far much better than meat. And this is a modification of the cabbage soup diet, in which meat is included if i remember correctly in two days from the 7.
bananas supply you with calium and reduce craving for sweet things. Find another source of calium 😉

On 02-01-14 I was 123.4 Kg on 08-01-14 I am 115.2 Kg thats 8.2 Kg.
Granted, I have been to gym for 1 hr every day but I also did cheat a bit. Had grilled fish (trout) and grilled chicken (skin off) so the suffering was minimal besides the first fruit day. That was purgatory.
I drink a lot of tea as it seems to have a diuretic effect on me.
It works, even when a bit outside the boundaries as this will be impossible to keep up for any prolonged period of time (for me)

It’s actually quite simple.
The first week, stick to it as much as you can, simply for motivation. My results are not unique.
After that, for breakfast, I’ll have fruit with some oats and coffee or tea. Often a glass of tomato juice.
in cook a vegetable soup with a whole cabbage, an onion, some garlic and whatever. I season it with salt, pepper and vinegar (I like it). once cooked, I chop it all down to size and fill it into a broad necked 1,5 litre bottle. I put that in the boot of my car with a carton of tomato juice ( I get the spar brans as it is 11 rand cheaper per carton that the all gold) The vinegar helps preserve the soup so I can keep it for three days, no sweat.
Finish work, pop in at the gym of go for a 1/2 hour – 45 minute walk, just fat enough that conversation becomes a little bit difficult (gotta get that heart beat up)
for dinner, any fish (even sardines) grilled chicken (skin off) lean steak or mince (get the woollies extra lean) I know its a bit expensive but the “extra lean” is guaranteed.
I include canned beans (love them anyway), peas, chick peas, lentils and canned pilchards.
What may happen, is you will have a carb craving, we have a sandwich dinner on Fridays. you may want a pasta dish, do it, it won’t hurt.
My line of thought is: it is what you usually do that counts.
I one night woke up and had this craving for a bar one , it was 2:00 am. got up and found the full 100 grm monster. I sat down, ate and enjoyed it and, guess what? nothing happened but the craving was gone and you’re ready to carry on. trust me
remember, it has to be sustainable, it will be a bit slower but you’ll get exactly where you want to be.

No you will not starve tilld eath, but the first two days where quite difficult for me now i’m on the 4th day eating bananas, its going well. Tomorrow I’m not quite sure I don’t like tomatoes a lot. I’m already seeing the difference. It works! 🙂
you don’t need coaching. Follow the instructions and use your common sense. I skipped the tomato and the banana days as I’d have died. Had grilled trout and veggies one day and skinless grilled chicken and brown rice the other and I’ve los 8.2 Kg in one week.
Get some excercise, don’t use sugar and (I) find that lots of tea has a diuretic effect.
Trust me, is quite simple and follow this rule; if you think it’s wrong, it probably is.

Use this diet as a booster for your regular exercise schedule. I did it that way and had good results whereas my friends who joined me on this diet were not on any daily exercise and had put on weight the next week.
don’t overdo anything like over sweating etc..if you think that dancing for sometime will keep you active for the day, go ahead and do it but lesser time than usual.

I am definately going to try this. I went on a fruit diet before, for maybe a couple of months,the rest of the time ate veggies and gradually introduced other foods but stayed so healthy for ages. I went from around 75 kg to 45 kg in a few months and had never felt better. unfortunately due to some health problems i have put it back on again 🙁 I cant wait to see if this really works!!!
the idea of the milk it to replace calcium etc that u are missing out on other days, it is to keep your body healthy and with enough nutrients. Otherwise it wont function properly.

I have a suggestion for all…… Have green tea daily in morning before having break fast. after 1/2 hour you can have breakfast and a regular meal or whatever u luv to have for lunch, have it. During dinner have maximum of 3 rotis/ chappatis without oil, and if u still hungry u can have a juice of watermelon/ apple/pomegranate / orange and sleep after 1 hour. The day two onwords I had problem for stomach no digestion and didnt get motion. Had more than 4 litter water too. I had boils potato with salt without masala and a cup of tea noon coz of headeach. And 3rd day and 4th still had same problem batroom, motion was not proper and at all. So today 4th day evening I had 2 cup coffee all problem solved. Got went bathroom twice after the coffee. Why is that and why my stomach get stuck!? Suppose the second day as u said should be be gud for bathroom!!!

-i orange
-1 grapefruit
-1 diet soup
-brown rice bowl and for non veg it says on the rice u can substitute with lean fish.is it the same

I'm claiming that the built of our teeth is made because we are meant to be omnivorous. we are top of our food chains. sure we don't need to eat meat ALL the time! but we have to have it some good amount of it in our life. you cannot completely neglect it. btw what does this have anything to do with belief :/ ??? we have to be BALANCED. meat is crucial, vegetables are crucial, heck have you never studied the pyramids? it gives you strength. every food has it's own efficiencies. so you cannot say that meat is unnecessary or something like that.

It’s the copy paste of a Cabbage soup diet…… which is much more effective…. its is advisable to do for a week without cheating and repeat only after 2 to 3 weeks.drink more water and cabbage soup as this diet effects kidneys…..

Well, maybe this diet could help some people to lose weight but I am not that lucky one. I kept this diet only for 3 days. I always try to avoid bread, sweets, salt and etc. So, I thought that it would not very difficult for me. But I was wrong. The first 2 days were pretty normal. I felt better and I lost 1 kq for 2 days. Then in 3rd day I felt very tired. I almost slept all day long. In 4th day I didn’t see any positive result, I gained more 300 grams :/ So, I stopped it. I think this diet might be useful only for vegans.

If you suffer from any kind of constipation it can make it a lot worse. Too much fiber and not enough water can cause a blockage. Stick as close to the recommended amounts as possible. Day 4 of GM Diet…. Started with 70 kg… would like to be 65 kg by end of Day 7…. measured on Day 2 to find myself 68 kg… didn’t measure after that… i am already feeling light and i guess i have burnt some extra fats in my body…. i do not feel starved as i keep on eating and i hardly feel sign of weakness…. i have also done some light exercise in the gym and i am fine…. Diet plan is good but truth is its impossible to lose 8kilo in seven days
To lose 8 kilo in a week u have to burn almost 8000 above calorie per day.. which is very very very hard. To lose 1 pound in a week u will have to cut of 500 calories and 2 pound which is approx 1kg u will need to cut 1000 calories from ur diet..
Take a example if u have 85 kilo at age of 22, with a no exercise nothing and u want to maintain it ..u need 2149 cal per day to maintain and if u wana lose 1 pound a week u need 1649 cal per day and 2 pound 1149 cal per day..
NOW if u r able to somehow to get it to 75 u will need less calorie to maintain that is 2000 per day. For get 1 pound less in again one week u will need 1500 cal per day..
Again if u think that u will do exercise get into intense routine ur body calorie need will increase to maintain from 2149 to 3089 cal .. now if u think I will work intense but consume less calories it wont work because to do any work ur body need some calorie like..
Walking for 1hr 30 min for almost 11km will burn 700cal.. and this 700cal comes from food we eat.. so for 1st copule of days having less food intense work out will work but after 2 to 3 days u will feel weak and many other problem..moreover when ur weight loses ur body will burn lesser calorie then previous where it was 700 cal after few week 600cal.. if some how u are able to lose 8kg weight in week which is near to impossible u will not only lose fat but also muscles..
So now my sweet friends u must be thing what is the fuck this guy is talking all negative..but friends its the truth..
But wait now real trick starts u want to lose weight. Then accept it that it will take time.. best way to lose weight is losing 1kg or max 2kg per week. But most important ur will power that I can Do it.. never giving up.. eating same same food will make u bore but that time think positive.. here are some tips
Get up have 4:45am have a cup of green tea with no sugar. Go for walk or running at first 5km slowly slowly increase it to 10km.. come home rest for 20 min in these 20 min take 1 tablespoon of honey and lemin in a glass of warm water and drink it after 20 min have 1 litre water.. then 30 min get ur breakfast consist of salad .. thinking why we should have fruits and raw vegetables during diet because it not cooked with oil.. and walk when it is possible .. use cycle within 20 km of range … go back to ur childhood days and go for playing some outdoor games.. like rugby, soccer.. have a each and every calorie count of ur calorie u take calorie u burned and trust me within month u will get some positive result..
Always remember one thing that gaining weight was not easy it also took months and months of time.. so losing will also..
Always be positive never give up .. think of those days like what will happen when u get slim.. do what ever u can but get a positivity in ur mind.. its ur mind that will pull u back but u have say no and get going

It will not lead to weight gain. The body will become very weak by the time you will reach to banana and milk day. This will help you to get strength to continue the diet.

Green tea is fine, you can have it. Yes only tomatoes and rice. After day 8 carry on with the balance diet with low fat and calories item in it to maintain the weight.

Then I found this diet and said lets give it a try…
I started it on Monday January 12th, 2015 and I was 89 kg. I followed it exactly as it is.. Not that easy because it is winter but got used to it.
1st only apple and kiwis with lemon on top when mixed (to eat it easier I cooked the apples in a frying pan, due to winter was freezing 🙂 ) worst day of the diet for me
2nd vegetables as potatoes, carrots , zucchinis, cauliflower, etc.. always using frying pan with no salt only spices (hot chili, curry, etc…) with water
3rd I did a mix of both.. easier… but still not that good… something missing
4th I did a milkshake with 2 bananas & 1 glass of milk with one banana in between each milkshakes was good enough for me (total 8 bananas and 1 liter of milk) love this so all good… was awesome diet since my favorite natural milkshake. 🙂
5th 1 tomato at breakfast, one cup of rice with 2 fresh tomatoes transformed in sauce with an onion for lunch. small salad in the afternoon with 2 tomatoes (spices and vinegar ) same in the night. (added a few leafs of green salad and onions to make it tastier)
6th frying pan and vegetables + cup of rice at lunch but was missing something.. I made a soup for the evening and everything good. (vegetables and soup, only a cube of spice and thats it) Also a lot of water… perfect
7th same as the 6th but drank 5 fresh oranges + 2 lemons during the day
Monday 19th I was 85 kg I felt much healthier and energetic.
I went back to eating normally with increasing my consummation of vegetables and fruits in my daily routine. (still avoiding chips, chocolate, cheese and alcohol) 5 days healthy food, 1 day eating a few sweets, cheese and one day eating anything but always not as much as before… (example: 1 plate and half of pasta instead of 3) I didn't increase my weight at all and felt much better.
February 2nd started the diet again since my goal is 80 kg.
Same as above but added more variety of fruits the 1st and 3rd day. Was much easier than the first time. 🙂 now I am 81kg in winter, so I am sure that I will loose that extra kg in the summer.. just need to keep eating healthy.
Now I will keep eating healthy as I said above.. 5 days healthy, 1 day more relax and 1 day crap (including chocolate, going to restaurant etc.., having pizzas my favorite dish)
Thanks for the diet.. My wife is really happy to see me healthy again and I can enter all my clothes again without feeling overweight. (my wife is a little mad, she thinks my food as less salt so she doesn't enjoy eating my cooking as much.. hahaha)

I've just finished this diet and doing a second week of it again. It is amazing and really works. I went from 67kgs to 62kgs in 7 days. The only thing I will say to everyone wanting to try this, be prepared and organised, and also the first 2 days are very hard, but push through as it gets a lot easier after that! Do I only specifically eat what it tells me to? E.g. On days one & 2 am I allowed to eat meals as well or do I only eat fruits/vegetables which I supplement as my meals? You have to eat fruits and vegetables in all you meals. The ingredients are the only thing you have to eat through out the day.

On my second day, i cheated a little bit because I woke up early to have a bowl of cereal with milk. But then I did a little exercise afterward. In fact, this diet mentioned no exercise at all. But so far my bloats are gone! I can feel a little lighter. On my second day, at this moment I'm having a bowl of homemade chicken stalk with bunch of vegetable! I also included in my plan, hot lime/lemon water every morning and cold lime/lemon water every evening.
Since I'm still in School and am on the sport teams, I have volleyball practice Wednesday morning and swim practice at night along with morning cardio and muscular training on Thursday morning. I exercised a lot but I also eat a lot as well. I'm currently 17th. And I wanted to function my eating and eat a little healthier. Therefore, in my opinion, since this plan does not include any factor that deals with exercise, every time after I exercised I will have one power bar which is approximately 240 per serving. Alright! This is just dumb. I have lost 70 lbs in 10 months just eating REAL FOOD. Fruits, vegetables, meat, eggs, fish….no need to eat 8-10 bananas one day and a crap-ton of tomatos another day. And SERIOUSLY, who has a date coming up in a couple of weeks? The person who wrote this has apparently never participated in a legitimate social life, otherwise they would know that is just weird. to follow this diet plan..As per shedule 1,2,3 days completed then after i cant able to continue this diet because i like meat,rice etc…. on 3rd plan EOD i decided to stop this diet and checked my weight and i have lost 4Kg's for 3 days… i was happy and then after a week i started same diet and followed for only 5 days…..like this i have done this diet for 2-3 times with a gap of 1 week now i am 120 kg's.. reduced 11 Kg's ……. If you follow this plan without break in 7 days definetly you will get good results..

Don’t smoke during diet. Try to avoid it. Rice can be replace with beef, tomatoes have no substitute. You can include tomatoes in vegetable.

I'm large 96kgs so losing 10kilos is a big ask, but I have to get off my ass and do it for my health. I feel comfortable with who I am, but for my health I need to lose some weight. Time to get serious.

Its the cabbage soup diet, there are slight variations all over the place. It is given to people going for surgery, I cant remember what one though. Yes you will definitely lose weight in this week, I lost over 10 pounds. But it gives a warning to also not follow it longer than the 7 days, take a break and then you can do it again. Its dangerous.

Im a bit confused about day 5… it says its a feast day but you can only eat 7 tomatoes roughly and a cup of rice, which isn't much of a feast. Is this meant to be with other fruit and veggies or just the tomatoes and rice??

I followed GM diet and lost 2 kgs.. After 1 month repeated again n lost 2 more kgs…then gave a gap of 15 days n tried again shamlessly,,this time I lost 1 kg ( guys i strictly followed the diet).. I guess weight loss depends on body type n its metabolism.. Now i weigh 62 kgs

I need someone to answer me real quick. I have really really important exams tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, I had one today too. I feel really dizzy from this diet. My arms hurt, my legs hurt too. I kinda feel like I'm not totally in control of how I'm moving. I have trouble walking cause I just feel really weak overall. Is this normal? Also, today I literally almost fell down from my feet cause it's really hot and I'm so exhausted from all the studying and pressure, so I took like 10 grams of dark milk free chocolate. Is that gonna hurt my diet? Also I'll probably gonna have to do that tomorrow and the day after tomorrow cause my focus is a zero with all these veggies and fruits. It's my third day today.

You can eat it raw as a salad, or go for a soup. Alternative is not available for tomatoes. You can’t skip it.

Corn and sprouts are not for all the 7 days. Avoid rasam as it will have spices and other ingredients too. Just stick to the plan for maximum benefit.
